Ask HN: What types of tasks have coding agents reliably completed for you?

1•meshugaas•3h ago
Really curious about specific use-cases that folks have found coding agents, like Claude Code, to be consistent and effective. The marketing is vague hyperbole, mostly focused on getting projects started or generic "it can fix bugs by itself" type examples.

In my experiences, it worked really well to setup linter/formatters for my codebase, but failed miserably adjusting the config for a database client.

Would love to hear what has worked (or what hasn't!) and is consistent for others.

Iteratively one shotting new features into existing code bases, rolling fully realized tools from scratch ("do one thing well"), rapidly applying WCAG guidelines to front-end projects, etc. Also, learned me some Rust quickfast, and have attempted to show others how they can make their own websites and self-guided technical tutorials (because I'm tired of being the "smartest" guy in the room when it comes to this stuff... its fecking boring.)
