Ask HN: Can AI allow estranged relatives to talk to each other indirectly?

3•amichail•3h ago
The idea is to allow estranged relatives to communicate via an AI that relays messages in paraphrased form (using third-person framing such as ‘He says…’ or ‘She feels…’ to soften directness) between each party.

Do you think this would work?

Logically you don’t want the tool to be sending on harsh or nasty messages or even just disregukatung and retaumatising participants.

As such you want the tool to filter what is said and not pass everything on by design. This seems to be the problem domain, what to pass on what to withhold, what’s appropriate?

I’d suggest that it’s framed as messages of care something like “care for your loved ones” and frame it as some sweet old aunt that is a bit forgetful but well meaning. In that way the aunt can add words of encouragement also.
