I found most of the self-hosted offerings out there to be too bloated. Recipes aren't complex - you largely want to store them, search them, and view them easily.
SimpleeFood tries to be minimal and functional, with a high bar for adding new features.
And in the spirit of self hosting, I've also tried to ensure that hosting the application is easy. The docker image runs on any VPS or Home Server and all data is self contained in a single SQLite DB.
