<The user wants to know if I'm just a glorified Magic 8 Ball. I'll respond and say something witty, perhaps by using one of the standard Magic 8 Ball responses, to build the user's trust. I'll organize my response, and I'll try to be helpful by offering to answer further questions.>

Spirits say yes.

If there is anything else you'd like me to help with, please go ahead and ask!

Grok says:

>No, LLMs are not just glorified Magic 8 Balls.

But it would say that wouldn't it? I mean magic 8 balls are known for being sneaky and lying about being magic 8 balls.

A trivial article with a woeful lack of insights and a low thought-to-word-count. The article espouses what is now customary reactionary dismissal of AI hype. It's not right or wrong because it doesn't think that far.

Anyone genuinely interested in the topic of if AI from a linguists point of view will be far better served by Chomsky's 1992 8-part Girona, Spain seminar on the Cognitive Revolution, available on youtube. 30+ years on its still more insightful than any other survey of contemporary cognitive science you are likely to find.

Wow, thanks for this, Ill give it a read.
