Ask HN: Why the quality improvement for the HN frontpage on the weekends

2•jppope•3h ago
I've noticed that I enjoy reading HN sooooo much more on the weekends and that the quality of articles and resources is significantly better. My question is why?

The five-day work week. Leisure time is amazing.

You mean people goofing off at work are rattlebrained? Bring me my clutchable pearls and my fainting couch.
jppope•2h ago
sure that would account for the submissions being better but not the stuff that gets upvoted.

I can think of a few likely factors/culprits:

- fewer people participating

- fewer people trying to karma farm

- less "news" on the weekends

- more "fun"/"interesting" on the weekends

jppope•30m ago
Definitely less news. Whats the point of Karma farming on HN?
