This is the most compelling lead-in to any technical article I've ever read. In the age of AI regurgitations, it's a joy to come across writing of such humanity. I've bookmarked this and can't wait to get back to it!

A broken audio implementation can literally injure someone (hearing damage). I think it should qualify as a safety-critical system and be treated as such.
