>"The United States has generated $95.6 billion this year from tariffs as of June 24"
Where did this money come from? It's odd that this article purports to "track", but only addresses that question in a very tangential way: "As tariff rates fluctuate, so can prices, which unsettles consumers’ behavior."

Adafruit got a $36,000 tariff bill for a single shipment of supplies they'd imported.
While those tariffs eventually went down, I think that's the answer to the question of where the tariff money is coming from. U.S. importers are paying it as their goods come in. In some cases they'll then raise prices to cover it, meaning tariff costs get passed on to consumers.
$96.5 billion worth.
I just think the impact of tariffs hasn't trickled through the system and reached consumer yet. But if the goal is really funding the government (like the article suggests), then it's basically meant to function like a new kind of tax.

I've always appreciated Adafruit's openness about their supply chain.
$96.5 billions worth of new taxes on everyday people, so that he can give those who are worth hundreds of billions a tax break. It's contemptible, really.
