Kinda makes me sad. I played civ since civ 1 and in many ways the civ series went hand and hand with my interest in computers.
But with Civ VI it felt like the game had drifted into wonky systems within systems with a city resource mini game that had clear winning moves and non winning moves to make, and an AI that would simply just quit the game and not play often. The AI either beat you because it skyrocketed in tech for no apparent reason, or at best it keeps up but does nothing to compete when it comes to war or other choices.
With VII their commitment to the eras system (borrowed from other games) just erased any idea that this was my story anymore, now it's their story with their introduced era hurdles that feel artificial / not civ ...
Nothing lasts forever, but I miss Civ that I knew, Sim City .. etc.
