If this is true and not a reporting error i'm curious where everybody is going. Perhaps people choosing cheap Macbook Air base models over slightly cheaper (and significantly worse) windows models? Is it gamers realizing they can play all their games on linux with Proton? Enterprise? A mix of everything?

I know multiple families without a PC/laptop. They just use their phone for bills and daily life and have consoles for gaming.

Yeah I forgot about that one. People who in the past owned some PC deciding not to replace it because their phone does everything they need.

I also wonder if the pc windows 11 minimum specs is backfiring?

most families have the "emergency laptop" in a drawer, but you can pay your bills and contact people from a phone. Mobile gaming is now big enough there are phones with fans in them for gamers. It may be over for the desktop and it's a shame that we're going to lose the freedoms that came with it, ill-used as they often were.
