This can also be interpreted that people who report lower levels of well-being are in situations where trusting others and institutions poses real risks.

At this point any study that says 'shows', 'linked', etc is bogus until it proves otherwise in its methodology/data or is independently replicated. No wonder there's a growing loss of trust by those who care about their objective well-being.
