The new NASA budget cutting science is a travesty
dyauspitr•7mo ago
Renewable energy, EVs, pharmaceutical research, scientific R&D are effectively being killed. We’re speedrunning how to crash the country.
d00mB0t•7mo ago
Let's be honest, NASA's not what it what it used to be--it's in state of organizational stagnation and resistant to change. It reminds me of what's happening with Intel right now, that's why SpaceX and Blue Origin are advancing.
xqcgrek2•7mo ago
Neither SpaceX or Blue Origin do science. And the budget Congress just passed actually doubles down on SLS/Artemis rather than SpaceX or Blue Origin.

All while the great things NASA does, like science and astrophysics, being cut.

ghushn3•7mo ago
America is also killing a lot of people. Whether it's through deportations to inhumane prisons, cutting medical and food support, incarceration, or support for nations engaged in murder of civilians.

to say nothing of the cuts to environmental sciences and protections.

I guess I find it pretty difficult to care about the search for alien life when a federal domestic police force just got more funding that nearly every single world military. Heck, more funding than branches of our own military. To chase down something that's not even a misdemeanor.

ungreased0675•7mo ago
I don’t care about finding alien life. Travel to other planets, expeditions to asteroids, supersonic intercontinental travel, those are a few of the things I’d rather have NASA work on.
verzali•7mo ago
Sorry to tell you, but it isn't going to work on those things either. It appears to be spending all its cash on a pale imitation of Apollo 11.
PolygonSheep•7mo ago
I'm alright with this.
