I expected this to be big news, but maybe it’s just 4th of July lag.

Current discussions:

https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/1lrw7zz/eig...

https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/1lrx8q6/eight_dormant_...

No real info so far, just a lot of "yep, that happened" without any context.

So, let’s speculate.

- Why would satoshi move these funds now? (And are they actually Satoshi wallets?)

- The price hasn’t moved much, which suggests they moved the funds to someplace else as a signal, or they’re trading over-the-counter (seems unlikely; who could buy 10k BTC even if they’re for sale?). Has anyone looked into the destination wallets? I assume they’re not wallets for any exchange, otherwise people would be shouting that Satoshi is selling.

- The funds were dormant since 2011, but bitcoin was created in 2008. Were these coins mined? If so, is there any evidence the mining was done by Satoshi? (It’d be handy to list all the major miners from that time, if they’re even known.)
