I come from a business background, but I’ve always been more of a builder than a talker. Over the past few months, I finally carved out time to play around with modern tools – and to see if I could actually ship something useful.
The result is Bulk QR Code Generator – a simple tool to generate hundreds of customizable QR codes at once, built with the help of AI.
A few years ago, I ran into a very real and annoying pain point: I needed to generate a long list of QR codes, each with a specific URL, filename, brand color, and logo overlay. At the time, nothing quite fit the bill without lots of repetitive manual work or clunky tooling. That memory stuck with me – and this project became a great excuse to finally build the tool I wish I’d had.
Here’s what I used:
• ChatGPT (with the VS Code Operator feature): This was like pair programming with an incredibly patient expert. I used it constantly – from figuring out logic to debugging layout bugs I didn’t yet understand.
• GitHub: For versioning and learning how to manage a real repo.
• Vercel: Ridiculously smooth deployment – highly recommend for fellow first-timers.
The core idea isn’t groundbreaking, but for me this was all about learning to bring something to life from scratch. It’s my first time stitching together a working stack on my own – and honestly, it’s been a blast.
Would love feedback from the HN crowd – technical, product-related, or otherwise. And if you’ve also jumped into coding with AI as your guide, I’d be especially curious to hear your experience.
Thanks for reading – and for being a community that’s quietly helped me through a lot of this just by lurking!
