Capitalist optimization. Wall Street, and tech company C-suites, noticed that relatively few users bothered to vote their bucks and clicks for high-quality tech. Flip-side, making high-quality tech is far more difficult and uncertain than making crap and selling it with hype and BS.

Yeah, I learned with my first kid, DO NOT use parental controls. Lie about their birthday. Don't even accidentally use their real one anywhere. I go with their month and day, but my year.
Use the platform gift cards to buy stuff, don't put your card in there. Even with kids who know better, accidents happen. Lucky for me, worst case was a $5.99 in Robux, which I would have bought them anyway, but it was on my Roblox account instead of theirs (non-transferable), and the lowest price package is a friggin' major rip off.
If you're so worried about the stuff the companies block for kids accounts, just don't let them on the platform, or on the internet in general, because they're going to see it anyway.
