FreeTier.fyi – AI-powered database of free tiers of AI and infra services

Hi HN! I built FreeTier.fyi to solve a problem I kept running into: spending considerable amount of time researching infra services that offer free tiers when starting new side projects.

What it does: - Compares free tiers across 50+ services (databases, hosting, AI APIs, monitoring, etc.) - AI-powered data pipeline that automatically extracts and updates limits from pricing pages - Smart search with category filters and side-by-side comparisons - Compare services directly with difference highlighting to see which offers better limits

What makes it different: - Always up-to-date: Unlike static lists, an AI pipeline scrapes pricing pages weekly and updates limits automatically - Nuanced extraction: AI can parse complex limits like "1M requests/month but max 100 req/sec" from messy pricing pages - Direct comparisons: Select multiple services and compare their free tiers side-by-side with clear highlighting of differences

The biggest pain point I found wasn't just knowing limits - it was discovering which services even exist. If you're new to AI development, how do you know about Groq, Cerebras, or OpenRouter? This is positioned as a discovery tool for developers getting into AI and modern development, helping them find the right free services without having to piece together scattered information.

Current coverage: Database (6), Hosting (7), AI Inference (9), Backend APIs (5), Monitoring (5), and more categories.

Live site: https://freetier.fyi Submit new services: https://freetier.fyi/submit

Would love feedback from the HN community! What services are you using for your side projects that should be included?
