All part of project 2025 - dismantling the federal government. There are a lot of people who voted for this that have no idea what they’re asking for and are about to find out the hard way.
worik•7mo ago
It will take decades for these chickens to come home to roost

The USA is huge, with a huge economy. Wrecking it is a long term project

It is so sad to see such cunning greed used for such nefarious ends

toomuchtodo•7mo ago
It's tragic, and will be a historic cautionary tale. It will go one of two ways: midterms will swing us the other way when the sheep find out they're up for culling with Medicaid cuts [1] [2], or folks are going to double down and this democratic experiment is over. See you in 480 days.

Idk, people who voted for it were told quite plainly what was going to happen and have cheered it on. Goes back to Reagan and Norquist at least.
drivingmenuts•7mo ago
This is how you kill the dream of public spaceflight.
TheNewsIsHere•7mo ago
This also stands a good chance at chilling aeronautics research that isn’t proprietary.
DemocracyFTW2•7mo ago
"not proprietary" from someone who's commenting on the demise of publicly employed personnel from a public agency who were paid to do, among other things, publicly funded research with publicly accessible results which will maybe, if at all, in the future be conducted by private firms with private interests which are controlled by private investors, the stock market and private equity is—I wanna say "rich" but I find it rather "poor". "Poor" as in "poor America".
TheNewsIsHere•6mo ago
The irony of the website on which I posted this comment does not escape me. I agree.
jaybrendansmith•7mo ago
This one hurts. I knew they would do it, but NASA is important. While SpaceX may do amazing things, they will never do research.
rockyabc40•7mo ago
I dont think you guys are capable of looking beyond whats directly in front of you, but if you were you would realize how great this is. Pushing out long time government employees who have been there for decades, some contributing others not at all just collecting a check. This is going to create job opportunities for so many young people wanting to get a job in government, such as myself. I realize a lot of you liberals have no concept of these things because you were born with a silver spoon, but, sometimes change and violatility is a good thing. Especially when a majority of the country is unhappy with current circumstances.

You guys remember those USAID employees who supposedly are just peaceful helpers? They are trying to throw a coup now: https://www.nationalreview.com/2025/07/democracy-experts-sco...

Yet yall cried and cried when they cut it because why?
