I'm wondering/guessing about a couple of things:

- Epstein list is being held by Trump and associates so that they have blackmail against their fellow republicans

- Podcasts are Russia sponsored, Trump is having a fallout with Russia and so podcast owners are now against Trump

The question now remains how much of Trump and his entourage ( possibly not, but I doubt it) is infiltrated with Putin trustees and Trump will "suddenly fall of a window".

Trasmatta•6mo ago
You're way overthinking it. Trump and his buddies are on the list. That's the entire reason they're trying to squash it.
johng•6mo ago
So the Biden admin had this the whole time but didn't release it. They tried everything under the sun to hurt Trump but they wouldn't release this... that makes zero sense.
ElevenLathe•6mo ago
Unless, as is widely and reasonably suspected, Democratic politicians and donors are also implicated.

Another, largely similar, possibility is that this really is an intelligence-led blackmail operation and now lots of people in positions of power (including the Trumps and Bidens) are in the control of whichever spies have the tapes and photographs.

taylodl•6mo ago
Biden didn't make it a centerpiece of his campaign to reveal the list. The Biden administration was apparently only interested in prosecution, not stirring up political dirt. Trump vowed to publish the list and is now complaining there's no list at all, after saying they had the list.
orwin•6mo ago
To be clear, the Biden admin wanted to stop republicains, and republican judges especially from being afraid of retaliation or any politicization of the DoJ (politics in its narrow meaning of party politics), to go back to the status quo under Bush/Obama. I'm not from the US so take everything with a grain of salt, but it was dumb of them.

Executive federal power in the US practically neutered the legislative power, and it seems Trump admin want to do the same to judges. It happened before in history, even more recently, in both turkey and Israel.

Trasmatta•6mo ago
I'm totally open to the idea that both sides are implicated by this list.
burnt-resistor•6mo ago
Yep. Alan Dershowitz and Bill Gates are probably in there too. We must get past the idea that team red or team blue is "the better" party, because they're not because it's the ultra rich vs. everyone else.

There is only one party in the United States, the Property Party … and it has two right wings: Republican and Democrat. Republicans are a bit stupider, more rigid, more doctrinaire in their laissez-faire capitalism than the Democrats, who are cuter, prettier, a bit more corrupt — until recently … and more willing than the Republicans to make small adjustments when the poor, the black, the anti-imperialists get out of hand. But, essentially, there is no difference between the two parties. - Gore Vidal

Sorry how is Trump not releasing the list Biden's fault again?

How is it always Russia with you people? You honestly believe Tim Dillon and Joe Rogan are working for the Russians? Despite having followings of tens of millions, and having massive Spotify deals, they have to be Russian puppets to make money? Is Spotify controlled by the Russians too?
bediger4000•6mo ago
There's lots of known facts to make one suspect Russia. Maria Butina's efforts, NRA funding, Tenet Media funding, and, yes, the Mueller Report all indicate Russia made lots of efforts to run influence and psy ops.
myvoiceismypass•6mo ago
> How is it always Russia with you people? You honestly believe Tim Dillon

Perhaps you missed this last year - https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/sep/05/tim-...

rsynnott•6mo ago
I mean, Rogan is, at the very least, ah, weirdly gullible about Russian propaganda talking points.

And then there was this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_Tenet_Media_investigation

Like, Russia is at least interested in, and spending significant money on, such influence operations. Who knows. But honestly, would it be _that_ shocking, under the circumstances?

general1726•6mo ago
It does not necessarily needs to be a willing cooperation, you can also trick them into spreading a narrative by paying them money to talk about a specific view on a situation which favors one side and demonizes other one.

burnt-resistor•6mo ago
Neither Dillion or Rogan, but Tim Pool, Dave Rubin, and Benny Johnson got Russian money.
