My reality: Decades of experience, seeking one team that believes in it

7•adan_caldera•6mo ago
Hello,

In a world of startups moving at lightning speed, most technical problems aren't new; they are echoes of past challenges with a new technological face. My name is Adán Caldera, and at 54, I have spent my career (spanning nearly three decades), in the trenches of every one of these transformations.

My value lies not just in the technologies I command today, but in the deep understanding of the innovation cycles I have actively navigated: from mainframes and Y2K to the web, mobile, and now AI. This unique perspective allows me to anticipate breaking points, design systems that not only work today but scale tomorrow and prevent technical debt before it becomes an anchor for the business.

For a startup, this translates into:

• Grounded Strategic Vision: As an Enterprise Architect, I connect business goals with solid technological decisions. I can design the roadmap that allows you to grow sustainably and securely.

• Pragmatic Technical Leadership: I can guide engineering teams, mentor young talent to elevate their skills, and ensure that best practices don't stifle the agility that makes you competitive.

• A Passion for Building: I love to code. I enjoy creating prototypes, designing solutions, and I'm not afraid to get "down in the trenches" to solve a complex problem. My ability to learn quickly isn't a promise; it's a pattern proven over decades.

I've noticed that many companies hesitate to hire professionals with my background, perhaps fearing a lack of adaptability. My motivation is precisely the opposite: I'm drawn to startups for their agility, direct impact, and the opportunity to build from the ground up, applying all my accumulated wisdom to do it right and fast.

Regarding my English, my technical proficiency is strong. I am fully committed to achieving complete conversational fluency and, in the meantime, I trust that with current tools and goodwill, communication is a minor challenge we can easily overcome.

A resume cannot capture the passion for creation or the ability to solve complex problems. I am seeking a remote role.

I am reaching out to this space and community, the most brilliant and humane on the planet, full of geniuses, technologists, inventors, and entrepreneurs, because I would love to have a conversation to explore how my experience can accelerate your goals.

With appreciation and admiration,

Adán Caldera adan@caldera-labs.com https://www.linkedin.com/in/adan-caldera-rodriguez/

Thank you!! I appreciate it...

I’m only 3 years younger than you. I also started with mainframes in the mid 90s, got into cloud a decade ago, spent the last 5+ years doing strategic + hands on consulting, etc at both AWS directly (ProServe) and now at third party companies.

Honestly both your post here and your LinkedIn page is just word salad and says “hire me because I’m old”. It’s really not a great sales pitch and doesn’t separate you from anyone else.

I’m not saying you don’t have outstanding skills. I’m saying your sales pitch isn’t great. You mentioned English is not your first language. I’m really interested how you would sell yourself in your native language, meaning it might be an ESL issue?

I’m not insulting your English proficiency at all - it’s perfectly understandable and grammatically correct.
