Misnomers and simply choosing the wrong words are what caused it to fail. Everyone says "climate change" and "global warming", not "global poisoning" or "extinction event". Who cares about the exact numbers? Obviously spilling trillions of tons of poison into the air, water, and soil year after year for over a century is causing problems, and anyone who doesn't understand how that works is probably too far gone to educate; maybe they'd understand a little better if we closed them up in a room and lit a few cigarettes.

It's the same as people who hate billionaires instead of hating the parasite class. Lots of overlap but ultimately the incorrect category.

andsoitis•6mo ago
> the parasite class

How would you define the parasite class?

BillyTheMage•6mo ago
It's the economic equivalent of a biological parasite. The class of people who get a free ride on the worker's backs. Those include, but are not limited to: non-worker shareholders, landlords, and all types of scam artist.

Ya know, the people who have designed our entire society to benefit themselves. The people who have turned us into mindless machinery. Those are parasites. They infect our society and make it sick and weak. They take over our collective nervous system to place us in the optimal position for the parasite's benefit.

clipsy•6mo ago
> the people who have designed our entire society to benefit themselves

You're describing billionaires.

BillyTheMage•6mo ago
While I am led to believe that all currently existing billionaires are members of the parasite class, an exact arbitrary amount of money isn't what makes someone a parasite. There are people who are ostensibly in the "lower class" if based on raw dollar amount, but who are members of the parasite class by nature of engaging in economic parasitism against other people.

>Obviously spilling trillions of tons of poison into the air, water, and soil year after year for over a century is causing problems

CO2 is poison to you, but it's how all plants grow. And we need plants.

I'm disappointed that the article is so poor. It merely rehashes talking points from one side. It doesn't even touch on the core argument made by the other side. The argument made by every climate activist at the end of the day. The n-word. Nuclear. Every argument about climate change always comes back to

>We can't keep using fossil fuels, and renewables aren't enough energy. We need nuclear!

The entire climate change problem was designed with a nuclear solution in mind. And the nuclear solution is a trap. Centralize all energy generation in the hands of a powerful few, and outlaw other forms of energy. No Iran, you cannot have nuclear energy, you must buy it from the few powerful people who get to control it. No John American, you cannot generate your own energy, don't be silly. Now open your wallet and buy nuclear, at whatever price we set.
