Headlong into our glorious AI-powered future, are we on the road to Idiocracy?

Well the premise of Idiocracy was that stupid people would out breed smart people making people more stupider in the future.

One key part of that premise can already be challenged today by the the current global concern over population decline.

That was the conceit of the movie, yes, but the reality is that the conceit is not a realistic one. Intelligence is not strongly correlated with heredity.

Thinking is hard work, and people are generally disposed to avoid it to the greatest degree they can. If genAI even comes close to fulfilling the promises, then more people will be able to get by with less thinking than ever before.
