Hello HN, For a while now, I've been bothered by the fundamental business model of the internet, where our attention is the product being sold. I started thinking about what a web architecture would look like if it were built on a foundation of 'digital dignity' instead. This is the result: a whitepaper for a protocol I'm calling Aletheia. It's a design for a decentralized, open-source, non-profit public utility that aims to let users own their attention and reputation, using a combination of zero-knowledge proofs and a community-trained AI. The entire project starts with zero capital—just this whitepaper and an open-source license. The goal is to build a system that is owned and governed by its users and builders, not by a corporation. I know it's incredibly ambitious, and there are probably a hundred reasons it won't work. That's why I'm posting it here.
