Ask HN: What rules do you think beginners and users should follow HN?

2•FerkiHN•6h ago
The Hacker News community loves its rules, which are not even mentioned by the organizers of this site, so I would like to know what rules, in your opinion, a user's comment or post should follow, for or example, what can and cannot be done, what type of post is best and what is not interesting, etc.

The guidelines are linked in the page footer, prominently as the first item. There are further clarifications in the FAQ which is the next item in the footer.

As for what is best and interesting, well, that's subjective so a bit of trial and error might be needed, or just observe what gets upvoted and what is not really present.
