Ask HN: What is bigger than AI?

1•alganet•6h ago
With so much talk about AI, we might be missing opportunities in other programming areas.

In your opinion, what outlandish things that in the past were merely science fiction could become, partially, a reality?

Also, do you believe AI could be overshadowing such advancements in other directions?

Quantum computing

Interesting, but not really something worthy of sparking imagination in the general public as communicators, or portable tablets, or AI.

Do you envision any specific application for it that could easily be exemplified by a sci-fi trope?

Materials science. Quantum systems are good at emulating other quantum systems.

Kind of hand in hand, but automonous robots like Boston Dynamics or Tesla's Optimus

Practically every repetitive job, especially any job that is done with your hands will be goners.

The 2030 worker shortage wont happen because of these bots.

Countries like Germany or Canada who brought in high immigration to solve the shortage that wont happen are going to have great depression level unemployment.
