The single-engine Piper PA-28 aircraft left Montana's West Yellowstone Airport just before midnight
Just two minutes later, the signal was lost.
Not to speculate too hard, but from the location of the crash, and proximity to the departure airport…it sounds like spatial disorientation from night flying and turning in the right environmental conditions.
They were likely spiraling when they thought they were accelerating.
