Please be very careful using these things, they can request remarkable amounts of power and "safety" is in your hands.
A good example: all of the Chinese datasheets show a single switch transistor. If you happen to have more voltage on the load side due to capacitors or switching regulators, that will backdrive and can cause all manner of failures.
Contrast this with the AP33772S datasheet which has the expected double switch transistor which prevents backdrive and has an overcurrent sense. The downside, of course, is that the chip with some safety features costs $1.50 while the cheaper ones are all about $0.50.

Indeed. I destroyed a power bank with one of the usb-to-barrel adapters shown here. Presumably because of startup current; it popped, with smoke escaping through the USB ports.
