Another way of putting it could be to say "Consume less than you Produce."
But maybe that could be a different effort altogether.
If you concentrate only on producing more of one thing for instance, without limit, the sky can be the limit, and if you are wildly successful this may result in justification of consuming way more of something else to the point that could eventually end up as a shortage. A direct result of unchecked consumption. Less movement in that direction does have less of an effect though.
OTOH if you concentrate on consuming less, zero may be the limit which will never be achieved either, but you can end up achieving an equivalent balance between production & consumption and if it's overdone this way it leads to surpluses not shortages.
When it comes to both producing more & consuming less, that's like a meta level of balance which is more realistic because few people are at the extremes. But could also be more delicate balance and vague too, maybe a good way to know how you are doing is to see whether there is shortage or surplus in your wake.
