That was a great writeup.

I used to work at a surplus electronics store near, but not in, a rather seedy area. On warm summer evenings, especially if there was a full moon, we'd get random walk-ins asking if we'd buy a used laptop. They never had the power supply with them. This was well before USB-C was standard, so every manufacturer had their own charger.

We'd tell them we couldn't sell it without the power supply, but no one ever seemed to be able to locate it.

To be fair, I have a pile of my family's old laptops pending hard disk recovery. None with chargers.
