‘Here is how platforms die: first, they are good to their users; then they abuse their users to make things better for their business customers; finally, they abuse those business customers to claw back all the value for themselves. Then, they die.’ This is really well put and just sad to witness great business with an idealistic vision fall prey to that cycle time and time again. I do agree with krugman that death isn’t the end of the cycle though, and that instead they just exist in a state of limbo/stagnation, where the user base stops growing, but not at an alarming stage that could lead to bankruptcy or other death like scenarios
