Double-slit experiment holds up when stripped to its quantum essentials

Could you use double slit experiment (DSE) as an eye detector and sort of brain radar?

Let's say that you have DSE on a glass platform and inside a sphere with a slit for light to enter. The sphere is rotating around the DSE in the middle so when DSE will collapse then by taking angle of a slit on the sphere to DSE in the middle we can say that somebody is observing DSE in that particular angle.

Questions from me would be

1. Is there a distance limitation where observing DSE won't collapse?

2. Can you collapse DSE by observing it through camera?

3. How sentient you need to be to collapse DSE? Can a rat do it? Can an insect do it? Can only humans do it? Can AI do it?

If there is no distance limitation, we should put this device into an orbit. If it collapses while shielding sphere prevents humans to see the DSE, it is a proof that there is a life outside of Earth, because somebody is gazing in our direction. How sentient depends on point 3.
