I have a lot of interest in machines that revisit the 8-bit age but do it better. I like how AVR-8 is really 8-bit but has a lot of registers and a really clean instruction set. I like how the ez80 extends the Z-80 to 24 bit addresses with real 24-bit index registers or how the Commander X16 resolves the contradiction between video and CPU performance, today we can make machines that have the same charm as old machines but clear up the warts and are much much better.
