I think they also really need to think about why people are going to Reddit for information. It's because for a long time it was one of the last bastions on the internet that hasn't been completely corrupted by fake content. If you wanted REAL suggestions on what TV to buy, you can search google and get SEO-gamed BS that you can't trust or you could go to Reddit and see what real people with real experience are saying. Here's the problem - this advantage is going away because Reddit has a HUGE bot problem that they are unwilling to deal with. In 2025, you can still sign up and post on the site without even so much as an email address. Just enter a fake one and you can click "skip verification" to bypass email verification and jump straight to posting. You can also go onto any of a number of website and purchase high karma accounts for next to nothing. This is insane, and tells me that they know a large percent of their user base is bots and eliminating them would likely crash their stock as it would become clear that they have nowhere near as many users as they claim. This is eventually going to erode the authenticity that people come to Reddit for in the first place.
