As a person who got a physics PhD and who later worked on anti-crackpot technology and institutions for arXiv.org I am personally really offended by crackpot physics and the paranoid delusions that surround it.

One thing we noticed was that there weren't really that many crackpot submissions but they all went into a few areas like quantum gravity and foundations of quantum mechanics. Crazy people don't even know that physicists think about question like "How the hell does superconductivity work in cuprate oxide superconductors?" or "Why is there an unbalance between matter and antimatter in the universe?" or that computer scientists are more interested in improving the practical performance of SAT solvers than proving that P != NP or P == NP.
