I'm on the investor side these days and this seems consistent with what I'm seeing. Aside from the "Oooh, AI, defense tech, yada yada" part of the article, I think the real estate angle is interesting in the context of the larger demographic trends (the US population pyramid has a wasp waist around Gen X, ref (1)) I kind of wonder what the shift will look like when the 40-50 crowd in the Valley retires over the next 10-20 years. Will they be replaced or will the housing prices come down?

Some of TFA is pretty absurd ("knowledge of terms like neural network, large language model and graphical processing unit has become mandatory" graphical processing unit oh no! also it's graphics processing unit!), but the last quote is great and crystallizes the whole thing: "'We are so back,' Roon said."

We gotta drain this bubble (boil?) into things we actually need: solar, biotech, robotics, EVs, modular housing, rail. It's bewildering that the magnificent 7 are responsible for so much growth over the last 10-15 years, yet we have... nothing to show for it? Great, I have infinite content anywhere I want. How do I build meaningful relationships; how do I get my kids into college; how do I own a home; how do I get care when I'm sick; how do I get food that isn't toxic and doesn't destroy the planet; how do I get child care?

Screw all that! I just want Liquid Ass on my phone already!

I agree with you 100%. We are consoling ourselves with consumerism to boost our moods because we're losing / lost / will never have so much.
