The idea is that you can avoid using youtube directly, have offline media to consume when needed, and never see a ad from youtube again.

This is very early so there might be some missing translations and weird behaviours, but ideally it will be all fixed soon.

Great work! Plans to support an S3 compatible target for storage? Also would be interesting to be able to create a per video torrent file or magnet link on demand.

Yes, the idea is to also work with S3 and other clouds, not only that but also Network attached systems too if you want to run everything locally and offline.

the torrent file idea is interesting! this way you could share videos P2P and avoid losing the videos in case of youtube strikes or any other reason to shutdown the video forever.

Precisely! Your application then allows ripping the content out of another storage system, managing it in yours, and then sharing elsewhere (if so desired).
