Soon we're going to see AirBnB employ third parties to do the post-residence checkdown, which in turn will lead to a new class of gig economy, and then the emergence of people amenable to being paid off by {owner, renter} to dismiss or magnify the problems...

I avoid Airbnb like the plague after their own "we're in charge here, sorry" with me.

These kinds of problems are what fuel a return to hotel and structured accommodation services. I suppose a dismal scientist (economist) would call this a self-correcting propensity in the competitive market or something.

Personally, I just think the sector needs to be properly regulated. It's fucking up home prices in lots of places, it's full of shonky ripoffs, bad ads, misleading behaviour, hidden charges.

I've also had some amazingly positive stays (stayz!) and I will continue to look at airbnb when I am making choices for trips.

So Airbnb tried to rob this lady, shouldn’t there be some sanctions imposed for doing that?
