What in the world is wrong with GM and their lack of support for Android Auto and/or Carplay? Seriously, what is the deal? Certainly made me cross them right off the list.

They're probably just penny pinching to get more people to buy into their own subscription, believing that people actually have some brand loyalty to GM.
I believe they're wholly mistaken in that, and I believe that most people who give do care about this, more or less automatically exclude cars that don't support Carplay/AA, given car makers' track records when it comes to in-car entertainment systems, and those who don't care, aren't going to buy their subscription in the first place. They might pull in some poor suckers once the 1 year free trial or whatever expires and they pay up in some mistaken belief that they need to pay to have their car working properly.
