Show HN: We built an AI-powered pathology billing system for EHR platforms

https://www.curemd.com/pathology-billing-services
1•Atif-Shahzad•6mo ago
Hi HN,

We’re part of the team at CureMD (YC alum in health tech) and wanted to share a product we’ve been building to tackle a very specific but critical challenge: automating pathology medical billing.

Pathology billing is complex—each specimen may generate multiple CPT codes, modifiers, and payer-specific rules. Errors are costly and denials are frequent. To solve this, we built an AI-assisted module integrated into our EHR and RCM platform that:

Maps LIS data to charge entries in real time via HL7

Auto-generates accurate codes based on structured pathology reports

Flags billing conflicts using rule-based and machine learning systems

Reduces claim rejections and boosts clean claim rates

We’d love feedback on:

How others approach healthcare workflow automation

Tools you use to integrate structured medical data

Pain points you’ve faced in similar domains

Code is closed for now due to compliance, but we're considering a public demo or case study if there's interest. Happy to answer any technical or process questions.

— Atif, Health IT at CureMD
