I mean, can you really say any of this was unintended when these obvious consequences were clearly spelled out by plenty of organisations, experts and everyday people, well before the legislation was passed?

This is the most pathetically weak "objection" I have ever had the misfortune of reading. No wonder the UK government is able to so casually trample over its citizens, when this is what passes for resistance.
