Serverless WireGuard

Lee here, the founder of Proxylity and creator of UDP Gateway. I’ve recently added support for WireGuard, with an eye on being “genuinely serverless”. These listeners are always available and only charge for actual usage (they don’t script the creation of servers you pay for even when not in use). To me this is more than semantics — I believe that this model is what drives innovation best by removing complexity and cost barriers. I want developers to be able to try new approaches to network services with the same enthusiasm as they do for web things.

I’ve personally experienced the frustration that comes with running RADIUS backends, and not having any modern alternatives. I’ve helped teams building IoT backends who were constrained by the narrow and expensive modern options. In short, I think this service is a fit for the innovators of HN and YC.

With the addition of WireGuard we now have a fantastic security protocol that opens the doors to new possibilities. Instead of reinventing protection inside UDP, you can leverage the inherent security of WireGuard. To be clear, this isn’t a VPN — it’s just the protocol protecting the data. Your implementation can be like a VPN or not; whatever your use case demands.

I’d love feedback from other founders on what we have. So far it has more appeal to enterprises, which is nice but not my goal.
