The most dangerous situation is if a car enters my lane (maybe cutting me off) and then immediately moves to the next lane over, all while traveling at speed. The safety systems sees the new car entry at speed, but doesn’t look past to see the line of stopped cars the new car’s action shielded from view until it requires an emergency stop when discovering the stopped cars too late. Or manual braking by the driver since you know that’s going to happen.
Entering into a turning lane can be as bad when there are stopped cars, since the car sensor isn’t pointed at the turning lane until it is too late to detect stopped cars in that lane. Again requiring preemptive manual breaking.
Still quite useful when you get the hang of it. Makes long trips much less exhausting.
