ElixirForum Problem

2•rixilexhp•5mo ago
The reason most of you can not find criticism and shortcomings in your Search Engines, or even in the forum search around Elixir is because

1. Most posts are locked behind authentication 2. The forum search does not show you the "locked" threads

Here, as an example: https://elixirforum.com/t/whats-the-status-of-next-ls-and-lexical-merging-forces/71880/29

So you will never see even veterans of the ecosystem pushing back against the situations. And people reacting defensively, avoiding taking responsibilities.

If I am wrong, Admins are more than welcome to disclose stats information, and provide details about it. And let you decide for yourself.

The whole situation is controlled behind the most amazing experience, using the same "success" examples from the last 15 years, and some of them are due to Erlang, not Elixir as a language per se (so use Gleam for that matters).

The ecosystem is incrementally becoming worst over time, the leadership fails to sustain the needs of the ecosystem hidden behind the public face of "I don't want to tell the community what to do" while also having strong opinions and providing very little support or opportunities for others to take the lead.

It's not the only place to discuss issues with the language or system. So how is the ecosystem "incrementally becoming worst over time"?
rixilexhp•5mo ago
Because the incentives are aligned around 2 companies needs. Most initiatives are highjack by them. We have very little transparency in terms of where the money is going. And lastly, the person of “zero expectations” ethos is admirable but doesn’t address the modern reality where open source often underpins critical infrastructure. While having strong opinions behind the scenes, and halting initiatives to grow, diverging accountability and responsibility to "zero expectations"

Tell the Admins to stop hiding posts, let's start there.

Just going by the forum thread you linked to, I have to say that was a textbook case of self-entitled users demanding volunteers move their asses into gear and get working pronto, free of charge, on OPEN SOURCE projects that those self entitled users need now, and dammit - they deserve it.

I'm not sure as to the point of this thread. Are you criticizing Jose Valim's cobtribution to that thread? (where he tried to remind folks that, those LSP devs are volunteers working on open source, unpaid, to help others)
