Show HN: Vanitycert.com – Automated Custom Domains and SSL for SaaS

https://www.vanitycert.com/
1•lulceltech•2h ago
Hi Hacker News,

I'm a solo developer and the maker of VanityCert. For the past year, I've been working on a solution to a problem that turned into a personal nightmare: scaling custom domain and SSL management.

I built a SaaS app for a client and was faced with the '1-to-N' problem—hundreds of their customers needed to use their own domains. The manual process of orchestrating DNS validation, individual SSL certificates, and the 90-day renewal cycle became a full-time job. It was a massive time suck that pulled me away from building core product features for over six months.

So, I built VanityCert.com to solve that pain. It's a white-label platform with a simple API that automates the entire process:

It provides an embeddable portal for non-technical customers to set up their domains.

It handles all the complex DNS validation challenges programmatically.

It issues and securely manages unique SSL certificates for each domain.

It automatically handles the 90-day renewal cycle, so no certificates ever expire.

The goal is to abstract this entire layer of infrastructure, allowing SaaS teams to focus on innovation instead of operational overhead.

I would love to get your feedback on the idea and the implementation. What are your thoughts on the core problem? Are there any use cases you can think of where this would be particularly valuable?

Thanks for your time!
