This could be a case of the straw that broke the camel's back. Windows has always been extremely aggressive with its background disk activity in a default install, and I wouldn't be surprised if the new AI crap they're shoving everywhere has pushed that even further.

Maybe, but disk activity, even sustained one, shouldn't kill an SSD. Will be nice to know which SSD models are affected, so we can avoid them.

If you are doing lots of small non-cached writes, the write amplification can be huge. A 600TBW rating SSD may only last several TB with a 100x WA.

Both Phison and Microsoft have stated they haven’t found a connection. Makes me wonder if those users had counterfeit drives
