I got a debit card at 16 but couldn't make online purchases until I got a newer debit card when it expired. (This was about 2009?)

I've been warned by numerous members of my family that credit cards are a good way of getting you into debt.

From what I've read, only credit cards work as a validation method since they've patched out debit cards.

I have no intention of getting a credit card just to buy games.
