Ask HN: Any thoughts on my new online business?

7•kiraken•5mo ago
I’ve been seeing a lot of people build quick prototypes with AI lately, kind of “vibe coding,” and producing unsafe, unfinished, and unusable apps. The ideas are great and they work in a demo sometimes, but the moment you try to put them in front of real users things start breaking. So I decided to create a service around helping people take those prototypes and actually get them ready for production.

I’m calling it ReadyApp https://readyapp.io/. The idea is pretty simple: if you’ve got something working in rough form but it crashes under load, looks bad on mobile, or just isn’t reliable enough for users, I’ll step in and turn it into something stable and launchable. I’m not sure if this is just a niche annoyance I’ve noticed or if other people here have felt the same pain, so I wanted to put it out there and hear what the HN crowd thinks.

Does this resonate with you? Would love any feedback or thoughts.

In an ancient and bygone age, I once witnessed a similar system titled "unit tests" at a former job.
kiraken•5mo ago
lol agreed, but vibe coders and non technical founders can't do that themselves. What do you think of the idea as a whole? I would really appreciate any feedback
pavel_lishin•5mo ago
$2000 seems very low for taking someone's turd and polishing it. What happens when you look at their vibed codebase and realize that this basically warrants a complete rewrite before it can be made truly production ready?
kiraken•5mo ago
Agreed, I will only be taking on doable projects of course, that's why over the initial call I'll assess if it's doable or not. But that's a good point. Should I maybe add a build from scratch option?
pavel_lishin•5mo ago
The "you done vibe coded yourself into a corner" option?
vslira•5mo ago
It seems like a great positioning for a software development agency. HN probably leans more technical, so in your place I wouldn't place a lot of weight on feedbacks here (not because people don't know what they're talking about, but because they're not the intended audience) and would try this same post in some non-technically oriented community of vibe coders / solopreneurs / etc.

Good luck on your enterprise.

kiraken•5mo ago
Thank you for the feedback. I agree, HN is mostly technical people, but I also appreciate all the feedback I can get!

Seems like a great idea - I was also pleased to see you are open and transparent about pricing.
