In the mirror: In June 1870, in Tianjin, a riot broke out after rumors spread that French Catholic nuns were kidnapping and killing Chinese children. At least 20 French nationals (including the consul and several priests/nuns) and dozens of Chinese converts were killed; Boxer Rebellion (1899-1901) - Thousands of Chinese Christians and hundreds of foreign missionaries and settlers (French, German, English, American, Russian, etc.) were massacred, in a widespread anti-foreign, anti-Christian uprising that swept across northern China.

Isn't this the sort of thing that has been discovered in Ireland for over a century? Until the Father Ted comedy series blew it all apart?

That sounds a bit surreal when I read it back, but still rings true.

Yes, the pain in humanity's past is real. We can blame each other endlessly. Can we also let go, or are we controlled by it?

What if now we break the cycle? Imagine the brighter future we could create together.
