> The CCP apparently sees people like me as valuable assets in their propaganda war, who can give the impression that there is nothing to fear from China.
I saw this across some various interest / hobby topics. A social media person documents their trip to China and starts dropping lines about how happy everyone is … then out of the blue they drop in weirdly off topic lines how they didn’t see any signs of mistreatment of Uyghurs (because tourists are likely to just run into these things?)… and then folks on other social media sites start linking to that video when the topic of china comes up. The linking to those stories happened on HN a lot for a while.

there is nothing to fear from China, over here, cause there over there, and we have lots of bombs and guns and stuff, as to the Uyghurs and the Thibetans, and the Mongols, and a whole bunch of tribes and ethinic/language groups over there, in China, they definitly are faceing a rough time, but no where near as rough as the Palestinians in GAZA, who are facing the heaviest and most high tech assult in human history bar none, this is relevant to western credibility in critisising China and it's actions, as it is constantly in the feed here.

I think anyone should be free to criticize human rights violations.
The game of "you can't say that" is pretty absurd.

I'm surprised this sort of thing didn't come out earlier, they've been doing this for years.

Definitely Chinese "agent" trying to recruit a 20 year old undergrad, and not some thirsty Chinese bro with no game trying to get a white waifu /s.
