Show HN: Turn Your LinkedIn into a Professional Website in 60 Seconds

https://www.craftwebbb.com
1•FlorinDobinciuc•2d ago
I built a tool that converts LinkedIn profiles into professional personal websites in under a minute. Just paste your LinkedIn URL, wait ~60 seconds, and get a polished website ready to share.

Try it live: https://www.craftwebbb.com

The Problem:

Most professionals need a personal website but either lack the time/skills to build one or end up with generic templates that don't reflect their career path. Existing solutions are either too technical or produce bland, one-size-fits-all results.

How It Works:

1. Paste LinkedIn URL - That's literally it for input 2. Multi-tier scraping - 3-layer fallback system ensures we can extract your profile data (Apify → Smart URL extraction) 3. AI enhancement - GPT-4 doesn't just copy your LinkedIn - it generates professional summaries, compelling taglines, and career narratives 4. Smart template matching - AI suggests templates based on your profession (Professional, Designer, Engineer, Entrepreneur) 5. Instant generation - Complete website ready in ~60 seconds

Technical Highlights:

- 99% success rate through intelligent fallbacks - works even without premium APIs - Real-time progress tracking with fun facts during processing - Multi-layer caching (memory + server + database) for performance - Image proxy system handles LinkedIn CORS issues seamlessly - Rate limiting and proper error handling for production use

Built with Next.js 15, React 19, OpenAI GPT-4, Supabase, and TypeScript. The scraping strategy is particularly robust - if the primary Apify scraper fails, it falls back to SaleLeads API, and finally to smart URL extraction that works 100% of the time.

What Makes It Different:

Unlike other profile-to-website tools, this actually improves your content through AI. It's not just scraping and reformatting - it's analyzing your career path and generating professional copy that sounds natural and compelling.

The job-function specific templates mean a designer gets a visually stunning portfolio layout while an engineer gets a clean, technical presentation.

Current Status:

MVP fully deployed and working Professional template live (more coming soon) Complete user flow from LinkedIn URL to finished website Adding Designer and Engineer templates

It's free to try - no signup required for basic generation.

I'd love feedback on:

- Template quality and variety (which job functions should I prioritize?) - AI-generated content quality - does it capture your professional voice? - Overall user flow - any friction points? - Feature requests for the editing interface

The goal is to solve the "I need a personal website but don't have time" problem that every professional faces. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Thank you!
