I’m the parent of a 15-year-old who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in June. To help manage his glucose levels more easily, I designed a small gadget—compact enough to keep both on his desk and nightstand—and I’ve just released the entire project as open source.

The best part: it only needs a $9 development board to build, making it simple and affordable for anyone interested in trying it out.

I’ve also shared the code and an STL file for 3D printing the enclosure, so it should be easy to replicate or adapt.
