My playbook builds on that: have the person redo the work instead of taking it over. If they object and say that's the best they can do, give them clear examples of what's expected. Also tell them what happens if they keep objecting. DON'T say "you won't get this task again and your responsibilities will shrink" because that's what they want. Make it clear that their actions will be seen as uncooperative. This usually fixes it, or it makes the next step (either coaching or a harder call) clear.
